Grilled Steak and Portobella Salad

As I mentioned before I love to cook and try new things. One of my new favorite recipes is for a salad. It doesn’t take very long to make and the taste is to die for.

Here’s the recipe I use. Please let me know what you think.

  • 1 lb skirt steak
  • 3 Tbsp. balsamic vinegar
  • 4-5 portobello mushrooms
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 10 cups of baby arugula or your favorite green
  • half cup of cherry tomatoes
  • 4 oz. crumbled blue cheese
  • pepper and salt to taste
  1. Combine steak, 2 Tbsp. balsamic vinegar and a pinch of salt into a ziplock bag. Seal bag and turn several times to allow for nice even coat. Set aside for 10 minutes
  2. Preheat gas grill or cast iron pan to high. Brush mushroom caps with olive oiil and season with salt and pepper. Remove steak from bag and grill along with mushroom caps until tender. Usually 7 minutes for steak. Transfer the steak and mushrooms to cutting board and let stand for 5 minutes. Chop mushrooms and slice steak against grain.
  3. Combine arugula, tomatoes, mushrooms and remaining olive oil and vinegar into a large bowl. Toss to coat. Arrange salad onto plates and top with sliced steak. Sprinkle some crumbled blue cheese over the top and you’re done. It’s time to eat!
  4. If you have any favorite recipes please do share. I love cooking and trying new things.
